But will I wear it?

Snicks and I went crazy when the 1930’s reproduction fabrics came out in the 90’s. I cut out some of it for makin’ some shirts, but never got  around to it. So I made them last night.
I’m sure I’ll wear them everyday. Because they are awesome. The other one is pink.

I came up with a project for the car ride. It involves pirates. Arrgh. Fortunately that’s a gift, so I don’t actually have to keep it myself.

Whoa! The Residents have a new album!

Yay! Bearskinrug put up some new desktop images with Mojo the Sock Monkey. I love his stuff!

Some of my favorites from his One-Offs:

He has some books for sale… Did I mention that it’s my birthday this weekend? Satuday. The 1st of July. Canada Day. I’ll be 30. I just wouldn’t want anyone to get embarrassed if they forget. Forgot and didn’t get me a present.

Leaving in three days for Missouri. We figured out that Joplin is almost exactly half-way between here and my new town. That means I’ll be half-way to finally having a god-damned life job again. Is it really pathetic to miss working?

And we’ll be stopping by to see the new Brazen Hussy & Publius pad this weekend too! Woo-Hoo! I’ve packed some treats for Gatsby. Hope he likes beer. Hm… is he old enough to drink?

Um… Sunday Girly Craft Blogging?

I honestly never thought any friend of mine would have a baby. However, she's not too happy about the whole thing. Apparently, it's difficult to run your own conservation nonprofit in an impoverished and ridiculously corrupt country… especially if you're pregnant. Oh, and if the people who work for you sit around crocheting all summer. Ha!

Anyway, here's the finished baby blanket I made her. I found this nifty organic, undyed cotton yarn in Ithaca. The cotton grows in white, brown, or a very light green. It's veeeeerrrrry soft too.

Check out the 'bobbles', very nubby. I think it was Flapjack who pointed out that they resemble wee yarny nipples. So, the blankie's good for suckling too!

On the reverse side is a lil hood for the tot's tiny brain. Here's the blankie folded 'swaddle style'.

So, I've been trying to learn how to ride Snicks' damned bike, but it's a real pain. Literally. I last about 15 minutes before I start kicking the damned thing. The same gesture I make when surrounded by small children.

It's not muscle pain, it's soreness because the seat is seriously killing me. I actually can balance just fine, but the seat digs in when I lean forward. Strange thing is that it also feels really high (my feet barely touch the ground), but Snicks is way shorter than me.

My question: Is it possible for one woman's bike to not fit another woman? Or am I just being whiny?

For your enjoyment. A photo of me on the bike.

Oh wait no. That's a picture of an awesome bike from Chicago's Rat Brigade. I don't look anything like a blood-sucking macaque.

Hello There!

Hey! Thanks for coming over to my new digs!

So, I kinda like the interface on WordPress, just sucks about the 'customization'. You can't upload your own template (not for free anyway), nor can you change the fonts/colors. BUT you can change the title image, which gives me a great opportunity to abuse Photoshop. Photoshop and old comic books are a deadly combination. Particularly if you happen to be a silly silly person.

Bad News, Cute News

OK. I’m going to balance out today’s unbearably bad news with two unbearably cute things I also saw today.

Bad News:

Horrible wildfires have been hitting near my soon-to-be new home as well as the rest of the pitiful amount of forest this country still has. “Wildfires have burned more than 2.9 million acres nationwide this year, well ahead of the average of about 900,000 acres by this time of year.”

Oh, and Siberian permafrost is about to release an ungodly amount of carbon emissions. Yay, global warming!

Cute News:

MMMM, crocheted spaghetti and meatballs, eggplants, and salad to wear. Also see Twinkie’s eggs and bacon scarf at Whip-Up.

The Hobbibot 2006 will finish your knitting for you! One of the many damned cute guys on WeeWonderful.

Latest Headline:
Snicks (otherwise known as my momma) lent me her bike and I rode kindof for about half an hour until my brain had completely melted in the 95 degree weather. So, I need more practice. Typical Crotchfester (otherwise known as my hometown, Rochester) weather this week: one 95 high day followed by a week of 60 degrees and rain. Awesome.
